Dear Sir,

As I'm working in the import purchase and every time that I've asked for the best price, min and lead time from supplier, especially, price is quite high. And these cause made us to lose some order because our cost is higher than other.Sometime,I've tired to bargain but time not enough to wait. So,I'm quite worried how can i talk with them to receive the best price?

Replying to [Som-O]: Have you checked the quality of your competition? Are you able to buy in the same quanities that your competition does? To many times buyers get caught up in price instead of the quality of their products. You need to approach every supplier based on the quality of the product. If your trying to form a relationship with a supplier that means you are willing to commit to one another for the mutual benefit of both businesses.

When you approach your buyer be honest with them. Sometimes revealing your competitions re-sell price for these items will convince them to lowwer the price so that both you and the supplier can grow and prosper. To many times as I stated before buyers are looking for best price and forget about the quality of the products they are sourcing. Building relationships with suppliers is benenficial growth. Could it be that your competition is not looking at their per piece profit but to establish their name as the source for all to buy from. It may be better to take a smaller profit now, and build your reputation. With larger orders and co-operation with your trade partner per piece prices should fall some. After all if you can establish your company name and products as being better than your competition, they will be faced with higher prices from their suppliers as they will not have the resources to buy the larger quanities because of your new found market share. YOU TRY TO FIND WHERE THE PURCHASING ITEM IS IN ABUNDANCE AND THEN YOU SEARCH THAT COUNTRY'S SUPPLIERS. NOW MANY OF THE WEBSITES PROVIDE DAILY RAW MATERIALS PRICES WHERE THE PARTICULAR PRODUCT ARE AVAILABLE IN ABUNDANCE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS YOUR PRODUCT WHICH YOU WANT TO BUY IF YOU SHOW THEN I CAN HELP YOU. I ALSO WANT TO SAY THAT DON'T DEPEND ON ONE SUPPLIER.

The basic skill is you may have a market survey on the materials you're purchasing in your country. You may simply source the suppliers as many as you can, Then compare their offers, trade terms, quality issues etc. In this case, you may reckon the real price of materials...[em1][em1]

The key is that you should know your price structure.
Cost based on every key components plus external charge.

For example, if you want to buy a GPS ,you should know the price for LCD module , PCBA, RF module, case , charger, package, factory charge etc. For each components, there is a price range,

You can tell me what kind of produdcts you are buying and I am ready to share you my experiences.

Replying to [Som-O]: In fact , it is good result that buyer and supplier can reach a win-win, it is natural that buyer want to get products with best price, but you know , the difference is the quality of products, good quality is more expensive than poor quality, everybody want to reach deals, but if supplier failed to get her products' value, they donn't sell it , [em1]

As for this problem and i want to say that depends on your count. If you count on price when you choose products then you may inquiry more manufactures and compare with them ,them you may find out your best price. But if you pay more attention to quality then you should not put the price at the frist palce.
No matter what ,we should believe high price matching with good quality. Take our company for example ,we gemsy mainly produce all kinds industry sewing machine, and we are china top brand . Besides we all won the National Qulaity Award ,so our price are higher than the small factories. Of course, not because these prides ,the important things is our quality are superior to others and our production cost are higher than others.
So the price good or not that depends on your count.

Son-O -- Several good advices given above by Ranger, Business in and others. Just few additional thoughts, the reason why the supplier is not offering you the best price could be because 1) you might be purchasing small quantity 2) You might not have convinced them that you have real buyers. An additional approach to what have already been said that might help is to provide your supplier any past experiences that you have related to the transaction and attempt to convince them how you will help them to sell their product. You also need to look at your commission or mark-up. Are you willing to take less or even no commission as a trade off to establishing good relationship that could help future transactions?

I want to emphasize one point that the sincerity of your willing to establish a good and long term relationship with the supplier is very important. With the view of this point, usually the supplier would make some concession.
