I want to relate a true story of importance of brand, which I am passing through.
In 1956 , two friends entered into 25 years partnership deed to do business of door closers. They imported and traded in door closers. In 1964, they started manufacturing EVERITE door closers which enjoyed status of being only Indian brand for a number of years.
Imports were tough, so this brand "Everite"enjoyed virtual monopoly.
Later in 1981, as per initial agreement, they bifurcated business among them.One partner took the brand name EVERITE and some finished goods lying in godowns under same brand, while other partner got the Factory and entire sales network.
The Everite was sold by GARNISH TRADERS PVT LTD till 1981.
So the other partner took brand name as GARNISH.
Through the 25 years since 1981, Everite has remained major player in door closer market, Garnish has been struggling.
Now, I am assisting Garnish in remarketing of the brand with a few innovative products to give it a push.

But company name changed from Singer India Limited to Indian Sewing Machine co. Limited, But Brand Name Did Not Change.
