Quoting from [ramanamurtytv]:
I am from India. In general all the importers ask the quotation in USD. or Euro. As the US Dollar is depreciating with Indian currency, we could not able to quote a competitive price with US and middle eastern countries. My question is, if we quote in other country currencies, what are the pros and cons? What will happened if we quote in buyer's currency? ( Examples :For Dubai - in UAE Dirham; For Kuwait - in Kuwaiti Dinar; for Kenya - in Kenyan Shilling) . What will be the hurdles? I request the experts to answer my question.
Prices quoted in US dollars should have both a time limit and an escape clause should fluctation exceed a pre-determined amount.

In my personal opinion, EURO would be good. As the exchange rate between USD & RMB changed continuously, EURO is much stable, that would be good to both parties -buyer and seller.

This is a problem for all the exporters. Depreciating usd hurts the manufacturers. I know a turkish elevator cabin manufacturer company which quotes in local currency. The buyer calculates the usd cost at www.xe.com. They transfer usd or euro. Payment in local currency is possible However almost all the banks has either usd or euro account. Banks has to open international accounts for different currency. Saudi Arabian riyals and some UAE countries currency are pegged to USD. But for other countries the local currency payment may be an option in the future with the cooperation of the banks.
