Quoting from [smallindulgences]:
I'm moving to Florida from Vancouver, Canada next month and wanted to get more information on the rules of importing from China to the Tampa/Miami area. Once I receive the products (mostly women's apparel and accessories), approx 80% will be used locally (in Florida) but the remaining portion will be exported from Florida into Western Canada for distribution. What's the best way for me to do this? Thanks in advance for your help!
I an't tell from your post whether you have exprience in Canada in doing this and are just moving to Miami, or whether this is a new gig you want to start once you move to Miami.
If it is the former then you should already know the buying/shipping stuff. If it isn;t then you are about to discover how much fun (NOT!) is is to import clothing. The rules are crazy and as long as your arm. I don;t know them well but do know apparel (textiles in general) are about the most painful things you can import to the US. Quotas etc etc make life exciting.
The other thing you will need to remember is that shipping to Vnacouver and shipping to Miami is a whole different ball game. Last time I checked quickly a few weeks ago a Container into the west coast was about $1500.00..... into Miami was about $2200. So there is an added cost you need to keep in mind.
Also importing to the US then re-exporting back to Canada is quite possibly not a good idea. You import it to miami then ship it back to western canada you are looking at 3,000+ miles of freight costs! Might work out best to have 2 shipments. One to Miami and one to Vancouver.
You have a TON of researching to do on all this.
