Quoting from [tomagazpacho]:

The person may not be a scammer but they are certainly not selling authentic Sony PS3 product and here is why.

There are three basic steps in the supply chain for product and when it comes to foreign brand name product there are licencing issues:

1. Manufacturer - can only sell to wholesalers and distributors that are licenced resellers of the brand name product. When placing an order these customers would need to provide a licence of order authentication number issued by the brand name owner.

2. Wholesaler / distributor - can sell to anyone in their area of operation but would generally have agreed to minimum order quantities of supply so as to not compete with their retail customers. Wholesalers are not retailers and they generally do not conflict here as they would disrupting each others business if they did.

3. Retailer - in the case of foreign brand name product retailers would buy from the licenced resellers (wholesalers or distributors) as per quantity agreements. These quantities enable the retailers to buy at a low price and then make their money on markups for small quantity sales to their consumers. A retailer would in most cases not need a licence from the brand name owner but the minimum quantities required by the re-sellers would generally restrict retail customers to legitimate companies.

4. Consumer - buys at the highest price but can get as little as one unit.

So the seller in the case you enquire about cannot be No.1.

The seller is also very unlikely to be No.2 as the quantity that they are offering you would not enable them to make the money that they could make by selling directly to larger retail customers.

So your seller is either getting product from licenced re-sellers at a retail level or a consumer level. Judging by the prices that they are offering you however they can't be buying as a consumer as they would be paying more for the product than they are selling it to you for. If they were a retail customer then they would be selling the product through their retail outlet not emails.

Therefore based upon the method of sale, quantity of sale, and price of the units, it is most likely that your seller is an individual who is buying counterfeit or refurbished product in Asia, importing it, and then re-selling it back home. The seller may not even realize himself that his product is not genuine, but that does not make it genuine.

I would not consider buying this type of product from this type of seller as you can be sure that headaches for you are just around the corner if you do.

Replying to [tomagazpacho]:There is also another possibility that these units are genuine and were purchased with stolen credit cards or they are part of a load that was hijacked. This is somthing that you don´t hear a lot about, but it still happens. When you purchase these type of goods they are concidered to be stolen. Even if you have no knowledge of it when you buy them in the eyes of the law you are just as guilty as the thieves. In most cases the law will confinscate the goods and you will lose your money. Again I would ignor it and spare yourself the headaches.

First and foremost I think this is a great platform for discussion; a lot of us including me have lost money but cheats in business and personal life so i feel anyone with experience should help. I am actually working in a company manufacturing and exporting Spices, food items from Indonesia.

My brother however is based in Singapore and one of leading suppliers of PS3 as well as gameboy, xbox.

I just spoke to him and he informed me indicative price for PS3 is USD 360-365 per piece ex Singapore. This is excluding any games.

Above is for your info only and hope your prices as offered to you are in same range. Im not a Gaming supplier but even I know 10 free games is impossible and cant be fake games even since PS3 cannot be modified

Anyway by the suppliers reply, he does not seem professional; I maybe wrong but just looks as if the supplier is bogus

Avoid him if i was u;

best of luck
regards
sam
