[em1] I've been dreaming to be a business man since my childhood. Now I'm 25 old, living in Sydney, Australia. I wanna start export import business but I don't know how can I start or what can I start, what should I do etc. I know I need capital what I'll manage later but first I need to know how can I start it. Is there anybody who went through same situation like me. I mean who became a hero from the zero. Please share your experience with me and let me know how can I successfully start a international trading with the lowest capital.

Best Regards

Replying to [Khann]:Bhaijaan, First of all you should decide in which trade you want to go. Then gather the information pertaining to that trade.

If it is export -import, what you will export and what you want to import.

Visualise the future. I mean lets say if you want to import textiles So what is the demand in your country, how will you sell the same, who will be your potential buyers. Who will be your supplier, from which country you will import. procedure for importing etc. Make income - expense statement for a year and so on.

All the best

It's hard to be a' hero' from zero. You have to learn it step by step. I suggest you'd better go to the labrary and try some basic knowledge about import and export first, say, something about shipping, documents, payment terms, marketing etc. Then try to work with a trade company to obtain more tactics...[em1][em1]

1. Vision
2. Clarify the vision ie... define those strengths you have and those you must develop or get help with.

3. based on these strengths and weaknesses develop a pre business plan.

Included in this PBP you need to address the type of business, your target market, suppliers and buyers, partnering, financing.

The reason I leave financing last is because if you have not conquered and addressed all of the other things first financing your business will be very hard.

At this stage prior to finalizing any business plan you need to decide certain factors which will affect your future.

How much time do you have to dedicate to building and maintaining a business? Do you have sufficient capital to pay the bills while still maintaining a comfort level in your day to day living? These things are known as fear factors when starting a business. Unless you can stick to a plan you might never overcome them.

The business plan - in developing it to bring in partners, financial contributors, or even seeking bank financing you need to show flexability. That means if you come upon a road block or recieve ideas from those willing to partner or financialy back your business that you can reshape your idea readily to encompass them.

There is a ton of information and resources around for forming a business plan and one persons idea may not be the same as someone elses.

The biggest thing you can do however is to lay out a progress or preformance chart based on reality for completing every task towards the launch of your business. No one person can tell you what this reality is and in this too you must be flexible. Allow yourself enough time to complete each task, some may be easier or harder depending upon you level of business savy. If you complete a task before you readily realized you would, dont just jump straight ahead into the next task. Take the time to review, refine, and build in the flexability.

Last but not least leave some time for you to read, learn, and develop those weaknesses which you know that you have so that down the road they do not become the roadblocks to which you have no flexibility.

Best regards,

Ranger

I agree with the other posters that you should first spend time to understand the processes and costs before you go any further. There is plenty about this online so just spend some time searching.

Then you need to look at the market to determine which products are of interest.

I will be back in Sydney in March if you want to meet up and have a chance to throw some ideas around. Happy to help out if I can as what we don't want is another person to become fodder for the scammers out there!!

Well, first you need to know what product areas you're most interested in to start with. Secondly, you need to ask yourself, are you ready for being your own boss financially? because becoming your own boss means you no longer draw salary from an employer but your own boss - YOU. Starting a business can be easy but keeping it to grow is another story. Do you have the perverance to keep it and grow it?

This are the least steps you should answer yourself. There are of course other things to consider but in my experience, this is the first thing you ask youself.

Life can bring things expected or unexpected as you move on.
