Trading with Africa- are certifications needed like CE marking??
Post 1 of 10
I am interested in exporting our medical test kits to Africa, are there any regulations that i need to know about? for example to sell products in the EU you need to have the CE marking, is there anything like this when i export these rapid diagnostic tests to Africa??

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Africa is not a country. It is a continent with a whole bunch of countries in it. If these diagnostic kits require blood draws or anything like that then you will need to know the laws in each country... I would hazard a guess that you probably do. African countries north of the sahara (mainly Egypt) might be a good place to start. South Africa would also be a good country to work with.

I recommend you start by doing a google search with " <each country name>embassy in Turkey"

eg "Egypitian embassy in turkey" "south african embasy in turkey" etc etc. That will give you a LOCAL contact you can work with to find out what regulations/ certificates etc you might need in the specific country.

That would be my starting point.

You really need an Agent for Africa, as your potential buyers (medical institutions) are unlikely to directly import.

You might try placing a Selling Lead in Alibaba targeting Africa and mentioning that you also seek an Agent.

With a bit of luck, you might draw a response from someone experienced in both certifications and sales of your products on the African continent.

If your product requires compulsory CE certification for EU, there is every chance the same applies in most African countries in which respect your own relevant EN Standards will likely satisy Africa.

In other words, your current lab test reports certifying that your product meets your own EN Standards could likely be used to obtain certification in African countries - but such requires much expert investigation.
