HELP needed from someone living in Indonesia
Post 1 of 15
Hi, how would you check if a company is registered? In Australia, ABNs (Australian Business Numbers) and ACNs (Australian Company Name) must be applied for and registered before a legitimate business is started. They can be checked on ASICS website. Is there an equivalent in Indonesia?
I am checking the below company:
GAYUH SETIA UTAMA, CV
Wisma Setia Ciliwung Blok B.202
Jalan Bukit Duri Tanjakan
Jakarta Selatan - Indonesia
Phone Office : +62-21-71610656
Fax Office : +62-21-71610656
Any help would be appreciated.
Email: terrie.dsp@gmail.com
thanks in advance.

Hi Budy

Thanks for replying.

Stoki contacted me via my mail and erld's repsonse seem to match up. The company itself appears to be legitimate but the two who have been in correspondence with us all appear to be NOT LEGITIMATE. These people are using this company's name and the names of the owner and his staff to try and scam us all.
These scammers have informed Stoki and Rieni that the company is an electronic wholesaler specialising in PHOTOGRAPHIC equipment,
They however informed myself that they specialed in video games and consoles.
Two different stories!
i think they will jsut tell us all exactly what we want to buy so they can get their hands on all our money.

I do feel sorry for the real legitimate company.
They, according to Stoki and erld, are egistered as local supplier/distributor for office/writing products and home equipments. The owner was not even aware of the fact that his company was advertised on this site or that he has a website registered. Until he spoke to Stoki!

After this experience, I've learnt to be more than careful when checking up companies. You may be checking the credentials of the legitimate companies but end up paying the scammers (because they've taken the identities of such companies) if you're not careful.

Cheers all

Hi, Im trying to do the same as you are now. I received a registration for Mr Gayuh Setia from Kadin ( Jakartan Chamber of commerce) where there are several registration numbers listed. I have sent a request to KADIN where I ask them to verify the authenticity of the document and that the person mentioned in fact are registered in their organisation. I have not received any answer from them, and Mr Gayuh Setia is no longer so eager to take contact after I have asked him to provide pictures of stock and shop + original factory documentation for the goods he claim to be able to supply. Please let us keep in contact if we can find some more information regarding this supplier.. BEWARE! Do not engage with a company called " Parnaroad Utama", "PT Merbau" or "PT ADDIRRA BIKE EXPORT INDO MAKMUR" they have scammed us for over 30000 USD..

Best Regards
