Normally Paypal, Escrow, and L/C are regarded as safe payment methods worldwide. But in my opinions, none payment method is safe for you if your partners are professional scammers....What we have to do is to do more Due Diligence work before payment. Start from sampling first...[em1][em1]

amedabasstrading - no such thin as "secure" method of payment. All methods (open account, pre-payment, consignment, documentary collection and L/C) have unique risk associated with each of them. Specific method of payment is agreed by both parties based on the risk they want to take and including the value of transaction. COD for example, risk can be to the exporter or the importer. I think you should focus in building good relationship with your seller that way you will have less concern on which payment method to use.

COD is a safe term of payment for importer, because the importer can avoid receiving the bad goods. While exporter must have the courage to take the risks of failing to collect the payment in hand.

I think L/C may be your best choice.L/C stands for Letter of Credit. It is widely used during the international trade as common payment mode. When the international trade enlarged, both the vender and buyer are inclined to pay or charge via the bank because of the nonconfidence between the vender and buyer. Owing to the dependability and credibility, the bank actually act as a warrantor for both the vender and buyer while offer the financing service. So it is the most acceptable payment mode in the international trade.
