To trust any supplier what verify checks would you make !!
Post 1 of 27

You have found a suppliers web site, What next .................

What type of verification checks would you make before you sent you money to a supplier?

I have listed some on here, you can select the ones you would use, or you can reply and add your thoughts and methords you use to verify your supplier.

Well i am sure the type of products you source counts, as we know brand names and the suppliers location can attract more scammer suppliers, as with most long term buyers we can have a quick understanding from a supplier at first sight on their own web site.

Anyway hope we can get some good replies ,,[em19]

I ticked off just about all the boxes . Not the paid member of B2B sites one though . To me the paid membership is fairly meaningless.A few good lifts of cash from scam / fraud = membership paid for ..Anything after = pure profit to the scammer, fraudster .

In fairness though ,some B2Bs are good in their check processses. But it is up to the buyer to carry out their own further diligence checks ,,,as on your list .

Like > visit the supplier ,or get a trusted and professional third party to visit .Check any and all company paperwork ,export docs etc .

Later ,if everything pans out and orders are submitted ,keep the checks going on the supplier ,quality etc .

All in all ,its a good check list to stick with . I too would be interested to see what others think .

You are right to think about the paid membership in that way, but for gold members the payment is not too small, the other thing is to check if they have paid other paid memberships. I am sure if people do their D/D before they send the money and the B2B websites keep on top of the scammers, sellers would think again before they open a paid B2B site as the return maybe a loss and not cover their outlay, but while bad suppliers fill their pockets very easy we may have to wait some time. [em4] let's hope people learn from others [em19]

Yes pre-shipment inspection before delivery is paramount for any buyers, to end up with your goods at your warehouse with faults is not the way to make profit.

The effect this would have to other companies trusting your company while loosing orders or returns from customers because of faulty products. [em18]

Sorry no contact detail on the forums

You can get a solicitor in UK to take them to court, or open a small claims under their company name, but no one should communicate with anyone just under a email address, more so if they use an free account, contacting them via telephone that matches the number on their website, and the payment should be in their business name, and not to use W/U too. Got a Q for you man. I insist on getting corporate bank account for any transfer. But is this enough to make sure the money doesnt end up in a scammer's pocket? I mean, if a company provides a corporate bank account, and the beneficiary of the account is the sending company, what do you think, how sure can I be that I have a genuine supplier (0%, 20%,50%.....100%)?

thanks for all your posts... newbies like me learn a lot from folks like you.[em19]

cheers

To give 100% that any supplier would not scam you is a large ask, you are sending money to another country and exporting goods, in each case you have to check the company and what type of products, you deside if to visit them and get another company or verification servces to check them or payment type they use.

I wanted to make business with 4 suppliers in China 8mths ago and still today i am in Hangzhou dealing with them, this is my 3rd visit and samples have not been completed, we look for the future and make sure the deal is done smooth as can be, if buyers cut corners this is the way they loose money.
