Telegraphic Transfers (T/T) and Letters of Credit (L/C) are the two most common payment methods in international trade; but what are their advantages? Is L/C the best choice for a secure transaction? Is T/T the best for simplicity and speed?
Which payment method do you prefer for your business transactions?
I click on by T/T,  back to yr Que

      1. L/C  is more secure  but  not  effective for  small amount  and  long period  lead

time products,  not so many company can stand for long wave cash flow ?                         you agree.?

      2. T/T  in fact is the fastest  and  not so many papers job in documentation !

      3. For small value amount order, I insist  to use T/T  by bank SWIFT

but  for  big  amount  or value order,  I  would  use  L/C for  secure it.

it  is to anticipation  "cancel order"  and  dirty-dumping (swap) tactic.

especially if  new deal  one, we do not know them much !  just in case.

      to Mr Catalyst :

in  respect of  your  acknowledge in the terms and rules at your discipline, I admit

your perspective.  ... please consider that  under  its own limit  and the variable of

multi  aspect to approach ...it  is a bit  polarize  and   I may say  'permissive-ism'

to  the public/forum,  some time we have  to a bit  ' Just the way it is" ...and  follow

the stream ...In  Survey/research  approach... it is not about  how the words or

the sentences  content,  it is about  issue  on TOPic  that are very moderate and

in  trend  (top isssue)  in actual  acts.  (= public ).

example:  why we are  talks and writing  here is the  impact of  those top-ic /asking

and  pooling  etc  in other  words,  that  it is representing  the  dominant  issues

and can deliver response from many audiences/members.

So,  the forum  get  alive  and  energy  moderately  ... it is how  moderator  is !

hope you get  the  points  and  adapted soon.   ...best  to you .

Hi Catalyst

[em3], Thank you for your feedback. Our Purpose is to make Greenhands in our forum know more about T/T and L/C. Though We Couldn't tell which one is better, but we can Thanmake clear in which case we use T/T and in wihch case we use L/C.[em1]

Thanks for your topic here, I just have the problem for I have never use L/C before and one of my customers ask topay by L/C, I just heard that there is a little risk fo rfactory using L/C, and I am afaid of it,  I am so glad see the topic here, however, I havn't see any useful informaiton, when use L/C is better and when Use T/T is better for both supplier and buyer?

I am waiting for your soon reply, many thanks!

L/C or TT payment mode is a good forum. From overwhelmin response prove you are wrong to say it is not an issue.

Both are payment mode, fundamentally it is the same thing. It just that depend on the matter of trust between buyer and seller, also the amount of payment, by then it will be for the buyer and seller to have the right one to fit both.

So far from my 20years of experience, more of the time is our own judgement on the other party sincerity and their moral of business sense. So far so good all the time I made payment by TT no issues at all, in fact it helps me to better compete in delivery than competitors especially those are in L/C, where a lot of time buyers do not in favour.
