All,

Can anybody give me a rough guess to the cost of a container (20) from China to the UK.

Never done this before so I would like some idea before I get stung.

Also anybody go recomendations on who to use.

I am from Manchester but i have office in China, at this time i am over there, will be back to uk soon.
The cost of a 20ft is about $1500 but can change each time, depends from from Shanghai/Ningbo to where, Flixstowe, southamton.

What products will you buy?
are you vat reg?
have you got a agent in UK?
what about shipping port cost?
tax duty is ?, have you checked the codes, vat 17.5%
delivery from port to you, 450 miles was about 700 pounds.

Thanks for the reply motoucom. At the moment I am in the info gathering stage.

Planning on visiting the Hong Kong consumer electrics show in April next year, going to look at bringing some lights back. (well at least order them)

I am based in London and own a company that is VAT reg.

You can still import goods without being vat reg, but need to get a Pseudo number first in order to pay the tax, but will loose the benifits of claiming back.
As your company is vat reg than you or on the right track.
As you look for the electronics remember the new law as from July 06 {Rohs} this is a new certificate but all electronic devices like with PCB boards, switches, power supplies, motors should be tested in order to reduce and comply with the law for Europe.

You will find many people still import without the certifcate but the law is new, and the cost with this certificate will always be more per product as material will be changed.

how is it going with the scamming website?, if people were paid to report scams it would give them an incentive to report, everyone could access the site, and advertising could pay the costs
