One of my friend in United states asked me to purchase Rhinoceros horn or powder,My biggest concerns is wether this transaction is legal or illegal?Coz when I went to post office ,when I consulted with staff,they told me most of pharmaceuticals is not permited to transferred into united states if I forward stuffs there,it might be destroyed by Customer.if you have related experiences pls help me to clear my doubts.thanks

If it is found to be contained in any package the company that has sent it will be black listed and documents will be sent to the exporters reciprocal export authority. For the importer in the U.S. they could face a fine of up to $250,000.00USD depending on the quanity.

It is a by-product of the legal safari business and there are reputable traders that still have a legal, documented stock available. Some countries (the US is one of them) are signatories of the CITES guidelines and no one can import the product. In South Africa, we are allowed to export the horn provided it is declared and has the correct export documents in place
