Dear Friends,

First of all,i would like to wish a happy new year to all members of this forum.

I am a indian national, living in spain from last few years.I am new in international trade and want to learn more about this trade.I would like to be a buying agent/middleman to help spanish people to make business relations with indians. The advantage which i have that i speak spanish language and also understand well all expressions of spanish people.so i think i can help them out to communicate with indians suppliers.

My question is how should i start this job? and do i have really a good opportunity to work as middleman, can i do it?

Can someone help me and suggest how to start?

Thanks

Replying to [Cascarvip]: Being a middle man is all about your connections. This is a very hard road to go since you have no prior experience. For buyers or sellers what is the added value of your service that you will bring to the table for which you want to get paid.

Translation alone is very small in relation to the search and negotiation of products and prices. If a buyer comes to you, you need to know who makes the products, who can meet delivery, quality and price. You must then have the ability to negotiate all of this on behalf of the buyer and administer and ensure that it happens.

Can this be done, yes it can. However, it is not a get rich quick business as being the middleman is a matter of reputation. You also need to decide what industry you are looking at. If its textiles, or auto parts or some other industry. You need to take a trip back to India and meet with many representatives of companies in that industry. Furthermore you need to know that industry forwards and backwards, ie. standards, ISO, raw materials, price fluctuations in materials that relate to final price, capacities of the factories. It would be a huge mistake to negotiate with a supplier on behalf of a buyer that can not meet or does not have the physical capcity to meet the needs of the buyer. I have touched on but a small portion of what you need to know. Also, don't be fooled to think that you can sit in an office in front of a computer and do all of this.

I can tell you these things from experience and my millions of miles traveled in the air over 24 years. If you put yourself into this business you are commiting to your client first, even b4 your family and it can equate to a 24 hour a day job in some cases to meet your commitments.

One last thing, I do hope you have a good budget for travel, and voice communications.

I think that you should get alot of information about internatiuonal trade by the business forums and talking to professional businessmen.Concerning the second part of the question that is connected with the spanish language, you can know what Spain imports from India or exports to India .Then study the market of these products and contact the exporters or importers and offer your service to them and I think that if you exported a new product from India to Spain,You will be more lucky.Regards

Dear Friend

What I suggest is that you first choose which line you have to take. You can decide on base of following factors:-
1. What line of people you have contact with.
2.The line of product you have interest in, or have experience with or have information about.
3. Type of product good demand in Spain.
4. Type of product India supplier has expertise on.

Once you have decide the line then rest plan you will able to form quite easily. Ranger has already giving good amount of detials on it.

Replying to [Cascarvip]: Hi there...

We are an Indian company engaged in production of Baby Powder, Body Powder etc.

We manufacture our products under private label.

We are looking to appoint an agent for European Market or countrywise.

Normally we pay around 1% -5% commission to our agents, depends upon volume of business and other things.

If you are interested please get in touch with us.

Probably we are only Indian Trustpass supplier which supply the Tal Powder.
