We are Guangzhou Kinko Industry Co., Ltd., new-join to Alibaba, specialize in manufacturing, developing different kinds of pens, calculators, MP4 learning machines etc, but I find it is difficult to close an order from Alibaba, and I have also posted our products in the well-known B2B websites but not much inquiry . Are our products not popular to oversea markets? What buyers always like the very cheap things? What we can do if want to succeed for export?

Replying to [Joyce Tam]: If you want to be pro active in getting your products out you may need to make contact with several large importers in the the countries you want to target and then supply them with free samples of your products. Why free, because you are seeking them out and not the other way around. Along with the samples you need to make them aware of your quality, best price, deliverability, and warranty. I suggest if you want to be succesful you need to negotiate with a warranty provider in your target area's that will service your products. For, without this warranty service your products will appear to be throw aways. Which put in another perspective is offering a warranty for a product but requiring customers to pay more than what they paid for the item to have it serviced. Thus its cheaper to throw away and buy a new one.[em15]

Joyce- I don’t think you should determine whether your product is popular or not based on posting in popular websites, including Alibaba.com. It might have to do with your marketing strategy in approaching your target markets. You have mentioned that you have used other well-known web sites including Alibaba.com, I think that is a good start, but posting in many sites doesn't necessary translate to immediate success neither it will conclusively tell you whether your product is popular or not, it is one piece of the puzzle. What I think your company should seriously consider is developing a marketing plan that will address your product, pricing strategy, distribution channel and including promotion in a specific target market. Aftern implementing your marketing plan you will then might be able to determine as to whether your product is popular or not in that specific market.

Replying to [Joyce Tam]:It is not a matter of popularity, You need to contact with the buyer who can buy the product in bulk quantity. The main thing to keep in mind here that locally these products are also available hence. You have to find the partner who have good sales network and can maintain the stock movement and money rotation.

Thanks for all of your replies and great suggestions. In fact, I knew the key points and had the plan to go.
1) The most difficult is to find the right one to be our good partners in other countries, who shall be strong and trusted and big interested in our products.
2) Also, I had talked and written to our boss for a series of maketing and management plans, but it seems they just want to test our products to oversea markets first cause they deal with the domestic business for years but dont know who to proceed to overseas, without detail strategy. Although I have been working in the international trade in other company for years and have the developing plan, but I have to persuade the boss here to move on with my suggestions, some frustrations too.
Anyway, I will try my best to go on! Welcome for more of your good ideas and kind help! [em17] Happy& Win 2008!! [em15]

Replying to [Joyce Tam]: Well, you may have to pay a little to play.
go to wholesale forums like http://www.ibuildstar.com, salehoo.com and ask to be published in their wholesale directory. They get good traffic. Also, you can reach alot of people by placing products that you think will sell on auction sites like ebay and then when you get winning bidder, offer them other products and your website for future reference.

oh, another good place is http://www.ioffer.com place ads in there as well. As time p , and if you keep your business honest and sell good quality products, your business will become known as word of mouth spread about your good products.

Good luck.

I am buyer and I comes to Alibaba a lot. Onw thing that frustrates me is the numerous choices. So which one do I choose? They all say they are good, so which company do I contact?

How I wish companies list information like MOQ, price range, lead time, and how the goods will be sent. And some estaimate of freight charges to major ports.

For example:
You are selling lanyards.

MOQ: 500 piece
Material: Polyester
Colours: Two colours of you choice.
Price: orders less than 1000, US$0.20ea, orders up to 5000, $0.18, anything over 0.16.
Packed in cardboard box, weighs 7kg per 500 units

Postage to:
New York: $80
Berlin: 60
Sydney: 50
