How are e mails sorted?

I would like to know how are e mails sorted by Alibaba.I mean that I sometimes I get some e mails that considered spam in my main inbox though I have bulk folder.That made me ask my self how are e mails sorted by Alibaba and what is the benefit of rating the messages . Regards
