What if conflicting conditions are given in the letter of credit?
For example, State Bank of Pakistan allows banks in Pakistan to open letters of credit permitting tolerance in amount by 10% subject to maximum USD500/-.

Now to reflect this condition in lc, what few banks do is that they mention “NOT EXCEEDING” in fld of Maximum Credit Amount but in FLD47A they insert clause that invoice with 10% tolerance in credit amount subject to maximum USD500 is allowed.

If bene presents documents in which invoice shows overdrawing by USD 400, does this overdrawing constitute a discrepancy?

FLD of Maxium Credit Amount is violated but FLD 47A is complied with.
To make a question straight forward, does beneficiary has an edge in conflicting condtions? OR

Are there some fields in SWIFT LC that supersede other fields of the same LC?

I appreciate your sentiments, I do !! [em2]

But if such compliactions did not exist in life and in business, how would the doctors, lawyers, politicians, plumbers, the escrow companies, banks - simply, any body in any profession, survive? Give it a thought, please!
