Suppliers in China
Post 1 of 23
I posted a trade lead recently and I got hundred of replies.

It's very strange indeed. The replies that I got; some are genuine, some are not related to ehat I want and some replied with the products I needed.

What I find strange is that the do not give me the full details. I replied asking for the details but they did not come back to me.

One odd-ball replied and asked me to tell him the quantity. I told him that I need to know the materials, colour and sizes. But he replied 4 times with the same answer (Question). "Can you tell me the quantity you want , then I can give you the price"

I got so fed up that I told him I need 50,000 - 40FT HQ container load.

Award 10 MVPs ( What's this? )for the best answer.

I don't think it is the fault of the suppliers although some of them are not professional, but it is the problem of Alibaba who gives the same inquiry to all the relevant golden suppliers in ALibaba according to your agreement.

We, suppliers will also have the pain that we work hard and quoted many but no gain from it. So some of them would ask your Qty or other things to check your buying sincerirty and also to value the price& trade risk by their side.

Replying to [Merlion]:well i dont know if this info will help you but i have recently been trying to gain info on how to properly import tools, dies, and molds, i am a diemaker in the states, the only good advice is talk to them, talk to everybody and find someone who is on your level, the correct company for you will have a person able to answer your questions and you can ask about the weather and b.s. alittile bit, its a more comfortable situation for everybody just keep the lines open and do not buy, because the communication your looking for is not there, it wiil come you have to search

Or you can think of it like this....if a person is willing to pay expensive shipping cost for a sample to make sure this item is what they need, this could mean they have money to spend on larger orders. People are not too willing to hurry and buy thousands of product that they do not need. This is why samples are ordered first. I think it is importanat to know quantity a person needs to order but if all they are asking for is what brands you have or what material do you use then those questions should be answered first to make sure that this is the product that they need...not hurry and close sale before negotiations even started. I think it is best to answer all questions, wait for that pause (the thinking pause after they asked all questions) Then ask quantity and try and close the sale. I have had this happen to me where i ask questions about product and I do not get any answer, just rushed right into how many I want to purchase and to me, this is not very good sales practise.

The problem is that a lot of manufacturers in china do not pay close attention to quality control.
They dont even bother to answer questions about specifications when you ask they jump straight to how many you want to buy.

first off until I know if a manufacturer is the right fit for what I want, I am not in a hurry to buy anything.
I want all my questions answered.

I asked a manufacturer who told me most of their trade is to europe and North america about Export license and they had never heard of it.
go figure.
