Ordering my own label on the product - is mandatory to write made in China on it?
Post 1 of 9
so, at this moment I'm in process to start up new business importing healthy drink under my own label. The producer said that once I will send him a sample of my label, he has to check it with some authority in China, is it legal or not. So my question is - is it mandatory to print Made in China (or Made in PRC) on the bottle? What if I don't print it on the bottle? Chinese authorities will not approve it? All I would like to print is like - Manufactured for the Company XXX by the Company XXX some thig like that. Will it work? By the way the label will be includin Russian and English only.

You need to check with the regulatiions of your own country for the requirements on the package. The factory can print any label which you request but the main thing is if it will be allowed on your own country.

thanx for response, but the problem is that producer says that he will be checking my label in Chinese authority for legality of my label in accordance to Chinese export rules. So is there any requirements for label or producer just going to check that I don't use illegally famous brand?

Then most probably your supplier will need to check if there is any copyright infringment, or if you have the proper license to use the brand. But if you are not doing anything illegal then there is nothing to worry about.

But most important is you need to check carefully about the rules of your country on what wordings are required on the label also.

You need to be 100% sure for what can be imported into your country also.

Rules about the country of origin fall under YOUR government regulations. The supplier is required to clear the labels info under his export regs. (checking brand names etc). This is pretty standard and nothing to worry about. Don't forget to have your label approved by YOUR government. In some situations even the size of the font and the typeface can be regulated. And depending on what exactly the drink is other labelling may be required as well. If the label as a whole does not meet the standards they will either confiscate or make you re-label. Either is expensive!

Replying to [shumbro]: Since your product is consumable (health drink) hence you will have to wait for the confirmation from the government authority in China.

Let your supplier come with the reply from the government authorities.

I think that you can avoid wordings " MADE IN CHANA " and replace the same by manufacturers license number.

At the same time you also have to check at your end wither the health ministry at your end allows such commodity to enter in their country where the COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE is not mentioned

Warm Regards,
Sameer

thanx buddies! In my country we don't have strict regulations so I don't worry about it, the main concern was that Chinese Authorities may oblige manufacturer to print "Made in China" on the label...
Thanks! if any one wants to enter Central Asia market with your product, let me know, I can give some advice [em19]

I am purchasing equipment from china under my trade mark. I authorized with the authorization letter to Seller to  develop equipment and packaging on behalf of using my own brand name. My authorization letter only allow s Seller to produce equipments for   me, and never use the my brand name for any other customer . But it seems that I reassure myself that everything will be ok. But i have unanswered of questions like this:1) My brand registered in Russia only

2) Who may guaranty that Seller should not register it as his  brand in his country?

I heard such history.
