- Since there are so many stars, you make the baby count them i will get tired and fall asleep
- You can increase the oxygen levels, the baby will hyperventilate and eventually fall asleep
- You can Fly with such a high speed, that the G-force on the body will increase beyond +6 G (6times your own weight), the blood cannot reach your brains, and falls unconcious and sleep a long while, a bit drastic method to get the baby to fall as sleep if its screaming to much.

I think Grigo's Rocket is better for it.
It just sounds like that, but acutally no pain involved, only a overwhelming feeling, and to a kid who loves carusell its the way to go.
Don´t forget if that if you want to travel to the space, you need to overcome at least around 9G's, humans only are able to withstand that because of their air tight suites which control the blood circulation, without it even they would pass out.
So 3-4G's its like riding a Carussel, or sitting in a Formula 1 car driving over 300km.
So its not cruel, just sounds like it, but is quiet a lots of fun.
