Replying to [Safe Trading Admin]: I suggest you tighten your security! How can so called 'Imposters' use other peoples accounts to sell? This is a ridiculous excuse from Alibaba, I have been ripped of by a couple of YOUR gold suppliers, the trustpass means nothing. These Chinese companies are abusing Alibaba and using it as a resource to find potential victims. They are criminals plain and simple. SORT IT OUT!

You are kidding me right?

Then how come I can contact at least 50 GoldSuppliers DIRECTLY thru TradeManager after looking at their profile as listed in Alibaba WHO ALL HAPPEN TO BE IN PUTIAN as well. All of whom are selling (acording to them) 100% genuine Apples iPhones LEGAL FOR THE USA market?

Do NOT insult our intelligence by trying to pass this off as "hijacked" accounts. Or are you telling me that the Alibaba website security is so bad that these "hijackers" managed to steal the Alibaba account that resides on www.alibaba.com?

I REALLY look forward to hearing this explanation!

[em5]I have been ripped off by your "Gold" member and they were trust p *. They don't send you anything and when you contact them, they claim the person does not work there. I have contacted the police but I am located in the UK and the company is in China. SO what are my chances of getting anything back, zero. And when you contact Alibaba to tell them. They then ask for the information . Even your password for your Alibaba account! After being ripped off, I don't think I would be giving out Alibaba account passwords. I have the email asking for it if anyone wants proof? That the help you get from Alibaba. The scam sites are still there.

We were also burned for thousands of dollars with a scam artist Ravijeet Singh of Thailand listed as a Trustpass member on Alibaba.

The scam artist Ravijeet Singh or Ravi purports to be a jewelry manufacturer in Thailand under the business name of Red Silver Co. Ltd. We exercised due diligence and spent a year in contact developing a business relationship prior to order placement for naught. Now Ravi has our money and we have nothing...

He currently operates websites http://www.RedSilver.org and http://www.RedSilverGems.com

We have since learned through recovery investigations that he has apparently traded under several other pseudonyms such as

OEC, LTD. and OEC Co., Ltd. with other websites listed as:

http://bodypierce-a.21cpp.com

http://www.bangkokbodypiercing.com

http://stockinsilver.com

http://redsilvergifts.com

http://silver786.com

http://redsilver.biz.

No doubt he will just create more websites, change his name or move countries to continue his scam efforts.

Alibaba shares responsibility and culpability for the commission of these acts of fraud by enabling crooks, thieves and fraudsters to posture with an intentionally perceptible aura of validity and credibility via the Trustpass and Gold programs.

Quoting from [Safe Trading Admin]:

Recently, the Alibaba.com service team has received some complaints of fraud against certain Gold Suppliers after they failed to send goods. After further investigations, we found impostors were using legitimate Gold Suppliers' accounts to defraud unsuspecting buyers. We take these cases very seriously because it damages the good reputation of Alibaba.com and our Gold Suppliers.

It is always a good idea for buyers to verify the identification of suppliers before they send any form of payment. Please take a look at the following important advice:

1. If a potential business partner claims to be an Alibaba.com Gold Supplier, use the company name they provide and try to find their company website on Alibaba.com.

2. If the products offered to you by a supplier are in a completely different category to those displayed in their Alibaba.com showroom, you may be dealing with an imposter (e.g. if the company usually sells shoes but they offer to sell you an ipod).

3. It is advisable to contact the supplier directly on Alibaba.com using TradeManager(recommended) to confirm their company details and genuine email address.

Our company too has been approached and through use of methodical back ground research, has found tons of scammers on Alibaba.  Alibaba has made it too easy for scammers to get a Gold Membership and a Trustp *.  There should be more documentation and identity investigation required, i.e. - a picture of national/state id card.

If Alibaba ran a background investigation on each supposed 'supplier' I am sure they would find out just how many of there supposed, 'suppliers' are actually just scam artists.   Our company has had to sift through tons of different companies. Doing thorough investigations on each, we have found many scammers.  If we can do it, why can't Alibaba and boot these obvious scammers?

It is a very easy process, they simply need to first stop scammers from joining the website by requiring identification be submitted, and second, have 'secret shoppers' try to purchase items from suspected scammers.

The $500 fee to become a Gold Member of Alibaba leads the mind towards the thought that Alibaba is well aware of these scams and allows them to happen, as long as the scammers continue to re-purchase their memberships after their accounts are shut down for fraud.  Why stop scammers immediately if you can let them defraud a custmer, shut down their account, and then net another $500 when they start another account?  I doubt Alibaba is doing that on purpose, but it could be construed by their competitors that way.

If buyers continue to be defrauded by unscrupulous scammers on this website, a media warning could be issued warning investors and potential purchasing agents away from here.  It only takes one purchasing agent to lose a lot of money to a well seasoned scammer's 'big score' for a news agency to issue a warning. People in the West are a sheepish bunch and our media and government loves to keep us afraid, plus that fact that eBay is considering a startup wholesale trading company.

If eBay starts an Alibaba competitors and Alibaba hasn't fixed the 'scammer' problem, eBay's new site will DEVASTATE them...

I don't know what kind of due diligence you've conducted. Ravijeet Singh is not even a Thai name.
