The strangest situation I have seen with a mobile phone was in Los Angeles California USA. There was a line of Homeless people waiting for food. Covered in discarded clothing and wearing garbage bags to keep warm. A man in the food line was talking on a mobile phone.
I think younger Americans on a whole have lost the ability to plan ahead. We rely on mobile phones for everything. Children text messages during school and Church.

My two year old granddaughter has three pretend phones, she calls imaginary friends while we are playing

I know we would survive without the phone, I just might have to stay with strangers until I find my way home.
