Forwarding and distribution

I was wondering if a firm offers the service described below from outside the US to the US.
What if we had to ship to various US destinations from, say, India? The freight charges on the individual shipments from India are too high. And, this is killing the business, especially if the shipment values are as low as when selling online.
Therefore, we would send a consolidated shipment from India. The relevant firm would open the shipment, remove the ready-to-ship packages and direct them to the various individual destinations.
Essentially, all the packages would be shipped together to save freight on longest shipping distance, cleared through Customs en masse and then shipped individually over the shortest leg of the journey. This would reduce costs considerably.
The same applies to shipping of small packages from outside the EU to EU or from outside Australia to Australia.

Replying to [rchas]: There is no such service but Hong Kong is ideal for this kind of forwarding service because the customs procedures are simple, there is no customs duty on most of the products, and courier services to every part of the world exists and at competitive prices. I can introduce small businesses or individuals who might be interested in this kind of service but that will require volume. It would be ideal if you introduce this service to gather volume in India and then send over to Hong Kong for further transmission.
