Hi,

I'm looking to do my first import deal of electronics products (about 5000 units, each worth $30US and weighs 1/2KG.) I would like to ship it from China to middle east and I was wondering what would make more sense - shipping it by air or by sea?

Thanks.

Hello. To use the appropriate shipping method, you and buyer has to decide the follwing:
1. seller find the price for both air and sea?
2. Buyer when item want to receive (time frame)
3. Sea cost less more time needed in transit
4. Air is quickest but too expensive. it depend on how buyer want to pay for shipping cost and method they choose?

Shiiping time via cost should both seller and buyer negotiate and assess by both seller/buyer. If buyer agree to pay air..ship then seller ship them . if the buyer sea..after the quote of cost and time..agreed then sea is best. do ad vise company proper shipping cost and time .

I hope that help.

Trucking is easily the most popular form of shipping. Even in Air and Sea shipments, ground transportation is still required to take the product from its origin to the airport or seaport and then to its destination. Ground transportation is typically more affordable than air shipments, but more expensive than shipping by sea. Trucks are also much faster than ships and rail but slower than planes.

Many trucks will take freight directly from the shipper to its destination in what is known as a door to door shipment. Vans and trucks of all sizes make deliveries to sea ports and air ports where freight is moved in bulk also.

shipping by air will be the best. Cause transit time is shorter and faster morever this are electronic items, which mabybe need to be used for production or need to deliver them in time to the suppliers.
By air normally Direct or Transit duration period is fast. Today there a lot of freighters flying around and the freight charges are also reasonable.

Well by Ocean its also another mode of transport cheap compare to Air but the transit period is longger and estimated time of vessel arrival to discharge port is diifucult to judge due to port congestion, bad weather etc,due to this delay items will be delayed this can cause loss or damages to yr business by paying high penalty etc Insurance high premium exposure of goods to heat n clod weather etc, In simple terms dont be penny wise pound foolish.

One thing that will help you is that if you have an account with TNT/DHL (tnt skypakis cheaper than DHL in Saudi) the air freight charges will be way cheaper. To have an account you must have a valid trade license and company here in Saudi, then you can open an account with courier companies. Try asking Namma Cargo in AlKhobar for a quote. Where r u based in Saudi? I'm in Dhahran.
To send your goods by ship you will also pay for the trucking from the factory to the sea port in China and also from Dammam Port to wherever you are based here in Saudi.
Good luck.....
