Eid Aladha ( muslims festival) is coming
Post 1 of 16

Happy Eid to all Muslims
In this Eid  .... Men, women, and children are expected to dress in their finest clothing to perform Eid prayer   (Salatu'l-`id) in any Mosque
Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice their best domestic animals (usually sheep, but also camels, cows, and goats) as a symbol of Ibrahim's (Abraham's) sacrifice.
The sacrificed animals, called "udhiya " also known as "qurbani", have to meet certain age and quality standards or else the animal is considered an unacceptable sacrifice.
Generally, these must be at least 4 years old, and weigh 26 st. At the time of sacrifice, Allah's name is recited along with the offering statement and a supplication as Muhammad said. According to the Quran a large portion of the meat has to be given towards the poor and hungry people so they can all join in the feast which is held on Eid-ul-Adha. The remainder is cooked for the family celebration meal in which relatives and friends are invited to share. The regular charitable practices of the Muslim community are demonstrated during Eid ul-Adha by the concerted effort to see that no impoverished Muslim is left without sacrificial food during these days.
Eid ul-Adha is a concrete affirmation of what the Muslim community ethic means in practice. People in these days are expected to visit their relations, starting with their parents, then their families and friends

Happy festival to all

[mohamadalkady]:

Salam, how are you getting on these days?
Wishing you a holy Eid Al adha.

Yes, this is the testing of Abraham's faith, because faith is through absolute obedience, without doubt and without question.

Put yourself into the situation, the story goes like this:

Abraham was promised the land and the generation of children and his off-springs will be like the sand on the beach, and the stars in the sky. But he was 100 years old and did not think the possibility of having children, Sarah, his wife asked her maid, Haggar to sleep with him and bare his first born, Ismail.

This boy grew up to be strong and outward bound, then one fine day, Allah decided to test his faith by asking

Abraham to bring his son to the mountain and sacrifice him. Packed two mules with the firewood with two servants, at the foot of the mountain, the servants stayed there and Abraham's son carried the fire wood on his shoulders to the mountain. Imagine how strong he was to carry the fire wood that had to be brought by two mules. That wood was for the burning of the offering.

The youth did not resist his father's bidding, and allowed himself to be tied up and wait for the sacrifice. He must have wondered in his mind, where was the lamb for the occasion, and why did his father wanted to kill him? Before the sacrifice, Abraham must have prayed and make the necessary arrangements, such as washing of hands, wash of mouth, nostril, and arms up to the elbows and wipe head with wet hand and rub outside the ears and finally wash his feet up to the ankles. The Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isah.

The Eid Aladha is to fulfill the five pillars of Islam, namely the Shahadah, that is reading and memorizing the Holy Quoran; the Salar, prayers five times a day followed by the special ritual described above; Zakat, giving alms or paying the tithes to give to the poor and needy; Sawm, fasting during the month of Ramadan and the Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca to visit the Kaába in Makkah at least once during his/her lifetime.

The final moment, when Abraham raised his hands with the knife, the son was replaced by a lamb, and he slew it and burn it to sacrifice as burn offering to God.

The Muslims did this event to sacrifice the lamb, eat one third of the meat and give the the two thirds to the poor and needy.

After this event, Allah bless Abraham and his son for their faith and absolute obedience. This blessing is physical as well as spiritual. Abraham was the richest man that ever roam the earth then.

1- Sarah was an egyptian princess ... the king of egypt offered her to Ibraham as a gift .. so she was not a slave
It means Ibraham did not sleep with him as a slave but he married her to become the second wife

2 - about the Odhia ( the animal ) ... yes of course three parts

but one third for us ... one for poor and one for friends

It was Haggah, and not Sarah.

It means Ibraham did not sleep with him as a slave but he married her to become the second wife

But just a word of comments on Ishmael, he can easily overcome Abraham, his father if he wanted to , when Abraham ties him, he just let his father do to him what ever he wanted, because he trusted daddy. At the time when he was praying, or when he asked for his hands to be tied.

Ishmael later became the father of a great nation of the Arabs. The name Ishmael means: God hears my prayers. His name was given to him when his mother was pregnant with this baby and she prayed and Allah answered her prayers at the well called Beer Lathai Roi. It is still there, between Bered and Kadesh. Ishmael meaning God has heard of your prayer. Ishmael and Abraham were both circumcised at age 13 and 99.

thanksSS for your correction ... of course I don't mean sarah ... I mean Hagar

Hagar was an Ibrahim's second wife

according to the Book of Genesis, Hagar servant of Abraham's wife Sarah and mother of his eldest son, Ishmael.

It means that hagar was a slave after Ismail born

but according the islam ... Hagar became Ibrahim's wife
