Who should use a Letter of Intent

I am an agent (middleman). When should a Letter of Intent be used and should be receiving it?

A letter on Intent is just a formal way or a contract to inform the other party that you have the intention of doing business or interested in something, without giving a Purchase Order or L/C. It is quite flexible. However some level of trust is needed.
The simplest example is when you buy a property, if you are interested in buying a property and you want the seller to reserve it for you but you do not have the fund at that moment to pay a deposit then you can issue a LI stating by when you’ll pay the deposit and etc
For your case your customer may issue you a LI when they wanted to assign you with a certain project, all the terms and conditions ca be mentioned in the LI, this is more detailed than a PO and have much flexibility. It can be use as a detailed contract for a duration of time and PO can be also use to complete the monthly order or requirement.
Normally it is issued by buyer to seller.

Replying to [Katt]: a letter of intent should be from purchaser to suplier on a sample order and then carried over to big orders i hope this helps
