My friends,

The dollar is so weak these days and there are fears that it might face "a full-blown dollar crisis".

How many of you stock the dollar?

Do you think the slide has or will affact your business?

Replying to [Kinty]: you should watch the dollar carefully, if you have anywhere in you budgeting or financial forecasting if the dlr is an exhcange rate the figures wil change. for example if you shipped goods in august at 50 dlrs, how much will it cost you today to ship the goods. if it 100 dlrs check yorur budgets and figures.

Currency variations ALWAYS happen, and they ALWAYS affect business - postively or negatively. It all depends on where you stand when the rates move.

Irrespective of whatever people might tell you, do not make your financial plans based on any firm projection/prediction. FIRM projections - whether in stocks or bonds or exchange rates or oil prices - are firm only for the next few minutes. No one can predict anything for the medium or the long term with any certainty. No one ever has (with the rare exception of, may be, George Soros).

Since your business in NOT risk management or making money on currency trading, always cover your exchange rate exposures and currency risks. The downside is too dangerous to contemplate.

You could also try forward contracts or option contracts. Do speak to your banker who would be able to guide you as to how to protect your prices/quotes.
