How to find potential customers?

I am now a sales representative in a motorcycle factory, but I have almost no experience on international trade.I really want to know how to find potential customers.Although I get quite a few purchase information from Alibaba.com, after sending the sample pictures,I seldom get a reply.Is there any advice to me?
