Where to find genuine scrap metal traders
Post 1 of 23
Hi guys,
I have been trying to find some European (UK mainly) and North-African scrap metal suppliers on behalf of a firm in South-Eastern Europe which has predominantly dealt with local suppliers before, and have failed!...
Reading from the thread: Useful B2B Portals for Scrap trading, I tried all B2B portals for scrap metal suppliers, including Alibaba, RecycleInMe, Recycle.net, but all I get is scammers from Nigeria.
Does anybody have any advice? It seems like these sites are just full of people hoping somebody will be stupid enough to send them USD 5000 via MoneyGram, without even checking the postcode (I have a couple of instances when asking for a postcode, they stopped e-mailing!).
Am I doing something wrong? It gives me the impression that scrap metal trade contacts are found elsewhere, but I'm not sure where....

Alibab seems like the wrong place. if you look for pricing in the lower 200's its usually fake. Most LEGITIMATE sellers will be selling in the high 200 - lower 300's. Some places will even tell you they will deliver to the destination port before paying but you must put up a BG. What the "seller" will do then is take the BG to a bank and pull a loan out against it a disappear. You will not necessarily lose money but lose time and maybe interest you could have made on that money.

Normal would be L/C or TT. If the HMS 1/2 price is less than $320 for container and $250-270 for bulk, you are definitely dealing with a scammer.
It is the greed of the buyers that encourages all the scammers.

Get a list from the customs office then you will know the sellers. You can go to visit seller directly in person to check.

Internet is full of scammers but there are a few companies which trade in a very professional and cooperative way. Our company is a genuine scrap metal supplier and we are based in Saudi Arabia. We mostly deal with buyers that come to us via a reference linking is very important.
Anyway if you are interested in get quotation of cheap scrap than please contact me.
