I am not a cosmetics seller, but I am interested in this kind of products, you know, most girls like it. Few days ago, my manager delivers a case to me, that is to help his foreign friend find a natural mineral cosmetic products manufacturer in china. I am very glad to take this case and sourcing information through internet and other ways with great interest and expectation, then I found, Chinese cosmetics manufacturers indeed have a long way to go to catch up the step of western countries. Although we are one of the largest cosmetics manufacturers in the world (we have a great lot of OEM factories of branded products), our own brands can not go far in the world market and even can not attract local people’s eyes. Popular products in Chinese current market are come from USA, Japan, Korean, and France etc.

Chinese cosmetic market is developing with great potential, and I really hope our own brands may find an efficient way to go.

I want to know, as a consumer, how much do you know about Chinese own branded cosmetic products?

What’s your idea about the above situation?

Replying to [Elaine Dai]: Hi Elaine! Great question? I found it while searching about cosmetics market in Nepal. Actually I m frm Nepal and work in a trading house that basically deals with Chinese products. Tell you something, recently I presented this idea of branding various Chinese products to my management and they have liked it very much. Nepal is flooded with Chinese products. But sadly, ask anyone, you will not get a postive mouth for the Chinese products...despite the fact that we all use Chinese products everyday! I think it is happening because of low quality and identity-crisis of the Chinese goods. Here, by low quality, I mean to say the goods that come to Nepal because Nepal is a small and dependent economy.
So, our company is going to work out to give identity to some Chinese products here in Nepal...thats Branding! I cant discuss any further about the products we have chosen..but coincidentally, cosmetics is one of them! Thats wut made me find u and ur question here and now i m writing something today...
I think ur question can also be answered here coz I have been working on it since couple of weeks...
Quality is the first thing to be maintained. If Chinese manufacturers r gonna work on the quality of the cosmetics, they can be brought in the frontier to combat with the multinational brands like Loreal or Olay or Revlon or wutever it is....
But only quality would not be enough dear...Quality must be combined with an identity...here i am talking about branding the product...
How do u talk to a stranger encountered in the train for the first time? And wut if u found a good school friend of urs in the train? How would you react? Naturally you would feel more comfortable with your school friend..and thats because you know him already...u have a perception of this guy and thus u r ready to deal with him..
Here I dont mean knowing someone alone gives u comfort...U know him and u also know he has good character drives away the fear and makes u to b with him...
So, quality with identity is wut matters...now quality depends upon the consumers' expectation...mine and urs expectation may vary...

Thats y i believe, Chinese cosmetics despite of a bit lower in quality than the multinational brands, can fulfill the expectations of the majority of Nepalese consumers, if given an identity.

Replying to [Elaine Dai]:As I know China products cosmetics are a lots, vary and cheaper. But sometimes it doesn't put the the compositions of the products, expired dated, and certificate of the products. Sometime I found the Whithening products from China after have been research in labolatory contains mercury and hydroquinon. That's very dangerous for everybody whom use it. So we must very carefully to choose a China Products cosmetics , not only concern on the price only
