This is quite intriguing to me. I have seen many buyers posting their buying requirements here on alibaba. Some of these potential buyers would sometimes state that they will not reply to sellers unless sellers reply with catalogue and price list.

I wonder how many of these buyers understand that we sellers are allowed to attached 3 pics (200k max) in our reply. What good will these 3 pics do? I have sent quite a few replies with the 3 pics limitation, and bloody ****; it me off at times.

The other thing that had me dumbfounded was that one of my potential buyer refused to deal with me. No matter what I say, even at the expense of calling him over the phone he still wouldn't buy it.
Till now he still does not believe that I am a bloody Chinese. Good lord, I even said to him that he should be able to tell from my accent during our phone conversation. He still says that he has not come across a Chinese company with a staff so fluent in English and don't want to be taken for a ride by a fly by night company. I am going to have to go get me a gun and blow my brains out. Lord, please punish my parents for sending me to school for my educations and send my teachers to **** for teaching me so well.

Next time, I and going to start reply to buying leads this way,

Dear Sir,

We coming from China and selling for you to buy our producing. Our company are making manufacture and exportation first. We making production many many things selling for you to buying at good competition price.[em2]

Oh... bloody ****, mate. Someone get a gun and blow my silly brains. out.[em5][em5][em5][em5]

Now now big brother. I can understand your frustrations.

Here's a solution for you.

Next time you contact a prospective Client via alibaba, tell them in your reply that you are unable to attach a full catalogue to the email via alibaba, and would love to send them a copy. Ask them to respond to you and give you their direct email address, and at the same time give them YOUR direct email address, and telephone number and fax number. Tell them as soon as you receive their direct contact details, you would be only too happy to email them your electronic catalogue.

Worked for me in the past to do it that way.

If they respond, then they are genuine, if not, they are just wasting your time.

(And by the way, your english is GREAT)

As Grigo said. Just explain to them at the beginning that the Alibaba system does not allow you to attach like that. Just ask nicely for their direct email address.

And you English is MUCH better than Grigo's!.... We are still trying to teach him properly!

Replying to [Big Brother]:Hi, I am a newbie here looking for stuff to sell on my website (just browsing for now). I did not know about the reply limitations, that is good information, thank you.
I am from England but now live in Canada (the frozen North). North Americans do not speak proper English either.
Some of the replies I have received from suppliers have been a little difficult to understand [em4], but I really appreciate them [em1]. If I had to try and trade in Chinese my business would die of starvation [em9]. Perhaps you should ask those who are ignorant enough to question your language skills if they would like to communicate in Chinese.

Aussie English!! That's what I like to see coming from a Chinese supplier!

In response to your point about price lists and catalogues, I think that this says more about the buyer than you need to know. You know that any buyer asking for such information is new to foreign trade and that is good for you to know upfront as it helps you determine whether or not they are a customer that is suited to your business.

Thanks a lot guys. Grigo, FOOW, Wanderer, Egernia and Fei Wong. Your feedback is really appreciated.

By the way, Fei. I don't think your English is a bad as mine. You're not only lucky but you do have an advantage over me. Trust me, being a man myself, I do know that some buyers would prefer to deal with Sheilas.

Sometimes I have to sit down and fiddle with me pooter for more than 14 hours a day without any enquiries. The consolation I get is 2 paracetamol from me boss; to relieve my bloody backache and and headache.
