The Minister of State for Textiles, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, informed Rajya Sabha that apart from China, Indian textile exports is also facing competition from countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Pakistan.

The Minister further informed that in the liberalized trade regime, the growth of textiles sector can be achieved with lower production cost on account of lower power & capital costs, higher productivity of labor, better port and transport facilities, better supply chain management, flexible labor laws, better exchange rate in terms of dollar and euro, brand promotion, big foreign investments, etc.

Dear Anshu,

International buyers are well aware of the quality of indian textile.

Apart from the price there are various other factories that are constraint in the industry growth. Like Curdrice has mentioned about the delivery. Which I have heard from many buyers is a big issue and that is why they prefer placing orders in other markets.

Other problem have been already oulined in your posting and would need administration interest in overcoming them.

Regards
