Imports from China - and paying for my mistakes
Post 1 of 81
I am new to the China imports thing .we run a very small company , and only do LCL shipments. As you know getting any supplier in China to do buss. with you if you do not order container loads - is difficult. As the orders arrive - I want to tear my hair out ! I have now decided that the Chinese manufacturer ask lower prices , but make it up in -1. empty inner boxes at the bottom of the outer box! - 2.sending a much poorer quality than the samples - because they know they will get away with it ? I feel sometimes that they must have employed the blind and the lame to finish my order. as I read the forum topics - i realise there are problems on both sides. Is there a list of companies in china that you should not deal with ? If so - where do I get it ? thanks

Replying to [mother bear]: I understand your problem. We have started a company in China which helps foreign importers to get what they needed. That can go from checking companies, quality assesment, finding reliable traders,... As we are always looking for new foreign customers, it might be a good idea to contact us. Our company was started by 3 foreigners (1 Belgian, 1 Italian, 1 Israeli); all of us can speak Chinese and know how things work here. Please contact me at sven.agten@eyesinchina.biz. As you can see from our company's name we are your eyes in China! Trust me, in comparison to other similar companies, our prices are very low.
Best regards, Sven Agten, Beijing (the Belgian guy;)

Hi, I noticed your reply to a member and was wondering if you can help.
I am looking at importing some electrical goods from a supplier in China who requires payment via T/T. As I do not know the supplier I am looking how I can validate that the supplier is legitimate before transfering funds for samples and bulk.
could you please let me know how I can confirm that the following company exists and is safe to trade with.
Fuzhou Hailian Trade Industry Co., Ltd. is located in Putian City
Is there an organisation in China who can check things out for me or is this something you can help with?
Kind Regards
chris

If there is somewhere we can post thbings like this it would be good
I went to China to see some manufactures and some did not even quote a price for the goods I wanted to buy. Lucky I ahd arranged to see 5 manufactures and did get the best supplier. But What if i had only arranged to see the ones that did not give me a price for the equipment. I would have spent a lot of money visiting them only to buy nothing

"Remember always represent ALL of your business. If you do not, you will never get concessions from your suppliers"
You gave very good advice, but pls explain this sentence.
I have worked with a number of suppliers and we have rarely had problems.
One sent us a nice sample but the merchandise was not "as good"..and many customers returned us merchandise and stopped buying. But we felt the company was doing its best to improve and now we are making a second order.
I think that honesty and mutual trust can, over a period of a year or two, bring benefits to both sides..
Also, on site inspection can be done on per visit basis / or per order basis for a percentage or $100-200 per day of inspection. Often the inspection you need is not overly complex.

I know about your experience. Languaje issues are also a big problem. The way we solved the problem is to get a chinese speaking person working with us. This gave as the opportunity to create a "one stop shop" where we can do all the checking for the buyer before the container is sent. We also get an independent official doing the audit of the container and writing a report, so if the container is not as expected we have enough information on our hands to come back to the supplier. We also have people in India and we cover most of the Asian countries. We are setting up offcies in Australia, China, Malaysia and India.
Let me know if you need some assistance. I'll be more than happy in assisting with your needs.
