Dont just be a seller also be a adviser to the buyer
Post 1 of 44
Dear Friends

I think that many problems are solved if we think in customer shoes.

I always try to advice the customer when to order and when not this increase the confidence of the customer in my company and me.

As the supplier is export of his products he can advice the cutomer in two ways. He can help him design the product and help him to plan his purchase considering his requirement and global prices.

This works both in OEM and replacement market.

You are right! Exchange the roles playing and think from the angles
of your customers, especially you know well the markets that your clients are dealing with, just tell them what are good or bad, and tell some of the his competitors' choices,( but respect the rules if some
designs are exclusive for the other clients, you should not sell to their competitors.) But you may suggest something simular to let your target customers to test the market.
Sometime we encourge the potential customers to go ahead by investing the mould making costs. In this case you must be very sure
your suggestions are good enough or you are able to support your clients in some ways that agreed. Therefore this might enhance your customers the confidence to work with you like a closed partner.
The win & win vs trust & trust will generate the balance & long lasting...
Except business there is also friendship which is more valuable.
Friendship is an extra bonus while both win profits.

Dear Friend

You are right about that.

We also have to be careful in our suggestion. We also may be not able to help him much, but atleast this will ensure customer how seriously we take him.

Dear Madhur Agarwal,
I think your idea reflects the active attitude toward doing business. If we can do as you said as same as ensure the benefit of company, we will be in a higer level of sales.
The basic precondition in my mind are: well known about products, insight of customer's requirement and changes, good balance between company and customer.
But as a new rookie in foreign trade, I have two questions to ask you.
How to evaluate the intense and purpose of a new buyer in the website? When should I try to be a adviser to the buyer?

Thanks,
Terry Leung

Dear Friend

Thanks for appreciation.

As for your queries. If you have goo product knoledge and business experience. You sould be able to catagorize your buyers.

For example I am in cable business. I catagourize my buyer as vehicle mfg., D.G. mfg., panel Mfg. etc. I on based on my companies experience can suggest different specificaiton of cable used by differenet buyer for various positions.

So, by seeing the site you sould be able to put him into a certain catagoury and send him introduction accordingly.

As for your question when are you ready to suggest a cusotmer. I believe that after you are dealing with a company you can study there product design, there orders, quantities, there complains & suggestions.

Coupled with your experiece with other buyer you can give them a good suggestions.
