Dont just be a seller also be a adviser to the buyer
Post 1 of 44
Dear Friends

I think that many problems are solved if we think in customer shoes.

I always try to advice the customer when to order and when not this increase the confidence of the customer in my company and me.

As the supplier is export of his products he can advice the cutomer in two ways. He can help him design the product and help him to plan his purchase considering his requirement and global prices.

This works both in OEM and replacement market.

In theory it is great, but to the trade business, maybe it is very difficult to do like that, because most of time we shoud put the benefits on the first place from the requirements of boss.[em6]

Dear Yang

You are right that in marketing you first have to care about companys profi but I think that your company can not profit with the business if the customer do not.

So, you have to maintain a important balance. If you are able to give company good sales on moderate profit it would be best for both.

Also if the design for the product is right then you can give product to customer on moderate price and moderate profit.

Dear Liu and Greenbird

I sure have some experience to share.

When I met a buyer in India he gave me a wiring harness design, after going through it I quoted the price.

He found the price on higher side and demanded reduction. When I enquired why he want so he told me that this will surpass his budget.

Then I oppointed my person to redesign the harness for him and reduce the specificaiton with out reducing quality. He reduced the amount of cable used and reduced the size of wire were ever possible.

We made a sample, drawing of new harness and tested it successfully. This reduce the price of the harness and we got the order.

So, I think this was a win - win situation. This would have reduce the price of the item but have won as a moderately profitable cusotmer.

There are many instences were I have observed that customer is always looking for a technically sound, honest and good capacity buyer. Also, price has to be resonable.

Replying to [Madhur_Agarwal]: Right, generally seller is the expert for their products, or too say understand that field more that the products belong to. But everything has two sides, I think seller also need to think twice before providing their suggestion to buyer, sometimes may not be so valuable for a buyer but cause unworthy loss for seller himself., will this kind of situation/result happen?[em3]
