There are thousands of varieties of fruit in the global industry and these include a range of exotic fruit. Do you know what they are and where they originate from? Find out below!

 
Kumquat



Kumquat is small citrus-like fruit rich in vitamin C. It is found in most Asian markets and both the skin and the flesh are able to be eaten. Kumquats are native to China and they are plentiful in winter.

Longan



Longan are a fruit roughly the size of a grape or a plum. It is sometimes called "Dragon Eye" due to how it looks when the skin is peeled. Longan are grown throughout Southeast Asia and are believed to originate from Southern China.

Loquat



Loquats originate from southeastern China and are now cultivated throughout the world. They are yellow or orange when ripe and oval or pear-shaped. Loquats taste similar to plums or cherries.

Lychee / Litchi



This fruit has a sweet, flowery fragrance and flavour. They have a red, inedible skin and translucent white flesh. They are mostly found in Asian markets in the late summer.

Feijoa



Feijoa is an egg-shaped green fruit native to South America and cultivated in New Zealand, California and South America. It has dense pale yellow flesh with a tart flavour and a strong fragrance.

Bread Fruit



Bread fruit is found throughout a large area extending through the pacific from New Guinea to Western Micronesia. Its flesh is similar to a potato when unripe and as the fruit ripens it becomes slightly softer and creamier.

Fructus Momordicae / Luo Han Guo



Luohan Guo is a sweet fruit indigenous to China and extract from Luohan Guo is 300 times sweeter than sugar. It is widely used in Chinese medicine for respiratory ailments and sore throats and is thought to have properties to improve longevity.
