Post 1 of 336
One of my potential customers asked me to send samples to him,at first,he just said he interested in one of our products,i told him that we offer the samples free, but he should pay for the mailing, then he replied me with that he is not in the position to pay for it because they don't have the DHLaccount, and showed that he intereated in all our items, and asked me to send the samples to them as soon as possible.
What should i do ?

Replying to [blue angel 2006]: Dear Angel,
In many cases the buyers if interested expect free samples from the supplier end.
It is a sort of an investment your company has to make.
Selling is at many stages. In our textile business when we see a new item and feel that our buyer maybe interested, we ask for sample. If the company is unable to provide free sample, we forget that item. Because it is just a feeling that some of my buyers might buy that item.
You give free sample you make investment. I inturn send it by ourier to my various buers. I also make an investment. In case we get an order our investment bring result. If not then this amount is for business deelopment.

You have to decide really on a case by case basis. The best way to varify if a prospect is a legit buyer in the United States is to use the BBB (Better Business Bureau). You can locate the local BBB online and ask them to verify the company in their area.
Most businesses in the US will list with the BBB and local Chamber of Commerce. As a way to screen your prospects will beto ask them what Civic Clubs or Groups do they belong to. By asking this question the person if legit will give you the info right away. If a prospect refuses to participate in this upfront discovery than you need to decide whether to continue the relationship or ignore any further contact with the party.
Good business men identify your reasons and will comply if you are being reasonable. You should protect your company as much as possibel. Now that there is the Internet you should also know that many people do most fraud online. So you have your right to deny a request no matter what the prospect says. But you should also understand if a legit business is really looking into your products that samples are just that, something you need to spend for to advance your companies sales.
Your marketing budget should include FREE samples for the clients you most likely want to attract. Don't be a Srooge but it's not Christmas every day for everyone that asks. Use your better judgement, a little expense in samples may prove to a legit buyer you want to earn their business.

Replying to [iulianap]:Absolutely agree, only in this way we can stopped sampler askers.Once the buyer show his/her sincerity, we can give discounts in order or at least deduct the sample cost in the order amount.

With context to your reply to `blue angel 2006`, I, as a beginner in trade, am at a loss to understand how the study of an inspection sample will guarantee ,on the part of the supplier .to stick/follow the same quality in the confirm order as was implied in his inspection sample.
I trust I made the point clear.

Saeed

If he can't pay the shipping than can he afford to make a purchase order?
He does not sound like a real player...
