How do I ship bulk products internationally? I'm in USA
Post 1 of 13
Hello. I sell snacks and grocery products. I am just starting to expand my business to ship internationally.
For small orders, shipping by air is fine, but how do I ship my products in bulk by sea?
For reference, I will be shipping single pallets.
Can I use Fedex? I am located in Memphis, TN, near Fedex Hub.

How much is the weigth.as i know, there is a max limited weight to fedx and other express companies.
Then,if the order is very big,i think you should contact with your buyer and discuss which way of price, for example FOB,CNF,CFR or other way.About FOB,CNF,CFR,you could conduct from internet or old trader.
Then, also you could find a good export agent to export your poducts.
You have to pay for agent fee and then the agent will arrange other thing.

It is a common way to ship by sea, specially when you have big quantity products. But you have to contact some shipping companies who can serve you shipment by sea.
1. Some big shipment companines have branches worldwide. You can contact some of your local shipment companies.
2. You can find some shipment companies from Mainland or HK at some B2B website or google.com.
About the product, you should have a clear idea about inspection requirement from China, certification from your side, marks on your package. The best way is to have a friend from your suppliers to help you with it.
You can contact me at jiyiflora@gmail if you need more help.

What you need to do is research a few freight forwarders. Just do a google search and then call a few to discuss your needs.
Be sure to discuss where the items are shipping to and from and what exactly the items are. If you are shipping food items make sure you find a freight forwarder that is experienced in shipping food items as they will be familiar with customs clearance.
As a test you may want to send a small order through a company at first to see how well they move the product, if they meet your deadlines, claear customs efficiently, etc.
In my experience the cost savings in using a freight forwarder begins at around 150 pounds. Anything less and I would use FedEx.
Good luck!!

They charge by the cubic meter and it is also required that the items are crated. Also keep in mind that not all the ports in the USA handle break bulk. I would suggest that you find a freight forwarder to help you with this. If you would like I would be happy to give you the information of the agent that I use in Houston, Tx. If you are interested contact me via trade manager. I hope this helps. Best Regards.

Knowing the terms of sale between you and your buyer would be very important information for a forwarder to know. You would want to ship it in a way that your product and your finances are protected. What countries will you be shipping to?

Hi good day!
Yes, by air is good but its expensive. By seafreight look for a cargo agency which you can accreditate your company and give you a cheaper rates or charges. This charges you can ad that to your buyers when they ask you the prices of your products.
Thats why in Pro Forma Invoice ..
you can ad that at the lower portion- Freight charges - ex. US$4,000 - 1 x 20 footer .
I hope I give you an idea. Good day!
