When I post a buying lead in Alibaba normally I would get 30 to 40 quotes. Only top 5 cheapest would attract my attention. Some times when I am free I would respond to those who have quoted too expensive, if I am busy I will just ignore them. What to do? Sometimes there are over 100 mails a day exclude those contact via TM or Skype.

A few more things why the serious buyer ignored you other than price issue.

1) Don’t ask silly or stupid question in your dealing, the buyer may think that you are not professional and may screw things up.

2) Don’t say you can meet or do everything without clarifying, I have came across many suppliers said they can meet everything very fast. Upon digging deeper then only they admit that they can’t in actual. This gave impression that you only want sales but no interest to work together.

3) Only allow T/T in advance, buyer may think of high risk of scam

4) You cannot answer technical question correctly, the buyer may think that your company’s standard is low

5) Your MOQ is too huge.

6) Lead time too long.

Replying to [Panny]:why don´t you take the phone and call the guy, and ask if you can be of any assistance.
buyer get 100´s of e-mails on daily basis all promising him heaven.
How can he choose ?
Just a little bit of extra effort will make the difference.

Replying to [Panny]: Yes. That's should be a norm for exhibitions' response. Because hundreds of booths a visitor visited during a trade show, he might need to filter the collected information and response to only limited few that he really interested. Secondly, some potentials not really genuine as he showed during the Show. Third, the follow-up emails that you sent might not impressed him.

Normally, if you can get 10% response out of the total leads, it should be quite good already. From the 10%, if 5% can translate to become your customers, it should be considered a good result. If one out of the 5% is a big client, it's a celebration!

Sometimes, the leads will come back after a long time. Too aggressive and keep on sending emails in a short period might create irritation to potential buyers, unless you can make sure your everytime your email will bring joy to him. [em3]

If you really think this buyer is a good catch for you, you have to be more patient. I had a buyer in USA who didn't reply to me after my third e-mail follow-up but in my fourth she did respond positively and apologised for not replying as she was traveling. She also asked me to send paper samples and I did. Now she's asking for production process description which I am responding to in a while as I am also traveling. So if the first reply didn't get s response, send another and try to add something new such as more photos each time. Patience and hard work do wonders most of the time.

Replying to [Panny]:i have noticed this yesterday, i have seen a buying leads in alibaba, then after i got the contact method , but without email. so i have to call him. during our converstion , he told me that we'd better use mail. because mail is a best communication, after that , i think, more than 100 mails you recieved everyday, when you have time to check my email. so i decided to fax him , and ask him to check, maybe it is better.

Replying to [Panny]:Hi, I think you could be more patient too. And I agree that you send email and fax.
In this way, you can make sure either will arrive at him for sure.

I don't think it is a good idea to send him the same emails again and again, since it might borther him.
He might be on a business trip or waiting for quotations from other companies. If he is positive about your products,
he will contact you 100%.
