About Elders Day
Post 1 of 15
When I was browsing the sites, I noticed that we have"international elders day". Of course, Mar, 5 each year is the traditional elders day in UK.
As I know in China, this year's elders day was Oct, 19, also the so-called "Double Ninth Festival".
Did you miss that day? What present did you buy for your grandpa or grandmother?
How about other countries?[em3]

Viejos Day sounds nice, spells like an international brand name, and memorable. However in Asia people tend to pronounce the 'j' as in 'joy', not as in 'yes'. Then again I could be mistaken to assume it's pronounced as in 'yes'. But it's not up to us really to choose the name and determine the date, as you implied let those in authority have their say. Us mere mortals should be more concerned about caring those who made it possible for all of us to be here today, not about massaging egos.

Viejos Day in any case sounds better and more respectable than Viagra Day... ! [em10]

Yes, I can't agree with you guys more. Appropriate Steps should be made to improve our old generations lives. Maybe, the policy makers should be the one who need to pay attention to. But again from the business sense, what shall we do to improve the elders situation? Maybe we should recognize the needs and post more relevant selling leads for them. We are all glad to see so many baby products on the site but in the meanwhile it is hard to find the same care for the elders. Don't you think so?

First to Smarco: you had to say that (viagra day), didn't you? [em2]

It's true that elderly people also have their special physical needs, just like babies. Though from the point of view of getting "the most bang for the buck" I would say that it would be much easier to raise awareness among people and consequently trigger the production of "geezer-related" products, once we have our very own special day. Before that, it would be much more difficult to make that happen.

And we have a big advantage: experience! For example, here in Mexico we have "children's day" (April 30), and I'm sure they didn't lobby for that. We, on the other hand, have the power to lobby for that ourselves, and only have to think a little how it is done best. So let's do just that: think (out loud)!
