I give you Three ways.

1. I think you can try to contact some factory, and when you find something is fit for your needs, and you are plan to order, then you can ask the factory send their licence for your refernce. anyway, maybe you canot read chinese, but you can find some chinese people to help you, but you have to know it, if you ask them send licence when you contact them first time, I think they will dont allow...so the point is ask them offer it when you are clear everything each other about this order...I know if they canot, it will waster your time, but I think waster little time is better than waster large money...

2. to set up a purchase office in china youself....every trade company scare to contact china agent, if you have a purchase office, then I promise you can find the real factory, but this way's shortage is you will be asked to pay some money to the agenter...hehe

3. You live in china short time, and start the finding work from the first step...it means you have to walk around the market, and try to find the factory, anyway, if you can read the chinese, that is better for you. because if you canot read, then the shop owner maybe will lead you a factory...but not really belong to him(her)...and he(she) will add some point from the factory price....I think second way is better than this one.

anyway, the first way is more easy and cheap...hehe...hope can help you more or less...

you see,may be the factory has a better price,but there is something that the factory can't  do for you. ofen the trading agent can provide the goods for your from their  long business  coperate fcatory, their will got a lower price ,beside the trading company can afford you a good services.

as a rule,in china,many factory does't export heir goods for themself, most of their order is from their coperation guy, trading company.

and theiry is important can't be ignore, that is you find a new factroy ,and the factory quote you the price,often the price is higher.

YOu can find genuie manufacturer, by to follow these steps.

1- Prefer the Golden and trust pass member ship.

2- ask them for website and visit the website.

3- ask them company registration number, TaX number and VAT number etc

4- put the number in related Country offical webite to varify the company and catagory, if there is mention the manufacturer then its ok.

5- if you are cloest then visit, other wise hire a agent and third party/person to visit and varification.

That is it.

I can see the issue you posted above, for china company, they sometime will pretend they have a factory and they are a branch belong to the factory or the factory was their production department, but it just casue some abroad buyer want to deal with factory only, in my opinion, anything need to think about into different aspect, regarding to this, maybe you can just get a trading company to do eveything on your behavor or you can search out some factory contact info and collect them all as database and set up a plan to visit them all, then you can know them in the real way and know whether they are a factory or not,

I think, there are lot of factory be listed in here and you need to take some time to verify all of them,

my view point: geniue manufacture or  middle man is not key point

what buyer really concerned is  professional, honest, reliable. of course, good price and good quality.

i  am a garment  accessory trader, i am not manufacture,   i openly talk to every buyers that i am a middleman.    all my buyers very happily work with me because  they can get  better serivce than they directly do with some manufacture.

a manufacture provide one or two their own products only.  but professional middleman can deal with many many different items.  i respond every email on time, i offer competitive price, i carefully follow each order, monitor each step of production, effect shipment on time. some of my buyer are middle man too.  i  refund their commission without delay.   so  i think the only way of  attracting buyer is your excellent service instead of  you are manufacture or not.   my buyer can sleep after they give me order. they trust  i  can take care of all thing.  they won't worry anymore.
