During the Canton Fair, there are groups of people in red hustling around the exhibition centre. They are the youth volunteers from Haizhu District for the first phase of Canton Fair. With a total number of over 600, their smiles became the shiny ID cards in the fair.

As the Canton Fair attracts the arrival of businessmen from around the world, language communication becomes a big problem. The volunteers built on the reality of the fair to form several groups of translators, providing service to foreign businessmen in the parking lots, bus stations and entrances. They also assisted these foreigners in calling the restaurant taxi, showed them the road and helped them communicate with police and security staff. By doing so, they almost made the language communication problem disappear. Some volunteers even helped them secure their deals with the domestic companies.

In the process, the volunteers invited the foreign businessmen to leave their best wishes for Guangzhou on Wish cards. So far nearly 500 such cards have been collected. Many a foreigner has said that they were grateful for the services provided by these volunteers in this beautiful, clean and friendly city and promised that they would come again when time was available.

so good to hear of this effort[em16]
i have a friend who went there last two year ago with simple knowledge of chinese, and they were made to pay entrance fee. that should have been avoided if they were made aware of the rules or could talk to entrance personnel freely.
