Gold memberships don't verify that a company is valid. It is a way for a company to pay for additional services which may help them to sell more product.

Regardless of the membership status (free, gold, trust pass) of your potential business partner it is up to all of us to practice due diligence and protect ourselves.

Re: Alibaba Gold Member Scams

Replying to [Kulcha]:Looks like Putian City is the heaven of scammers and criminals. Everything they sell is

either bogus or fake, but worse, most in Putian city ask for advance payment and then as

soon as they receive the money then suddenly their phone numbers change, their titles and

positions change even the website they were doing business with change. Yet, some of these

so called traders are listed with Alibaba as not just gold member but as Trustpass member.

I am not sure where the reputation of Alibaba goes into picture from this. I have recently

been scammed by and taken my money and no goods were shipped. I like everyone to know and

be careful when they do business with this particular group. The tarders name is:

Huayi Trading Firm
website on alibaba = http://sportshoescn.en.alibaba.com/

The individual scammers involved in this trading firm are

Mr. Chunhua Ou
Mr. Jianxing Zhu
Mr. Derong Chen
Mr. Hexing Huayi
Mr. Hongguang Huo

and others. This trading firm (and the same people) also do business with other names such

as:

www.Shoeskycn.com
www.Sportshoecn.com
www.Moboem.com

and so on.

Please look for these individials' names and those websites and firms when doing business

with them. This is simply a group of thugs and criminals that will take your money and may

not ship any goods or inferior or fake goods to you as they did to me.

I have written to Alibaba a few times. I am yet to hear from them.

Hi Kutcha,

Exactly, Out of the last 10 replies I have received from Gold Members Trust Past members. Their accounts have been taken over by scammers. One has taken over

hundreds accounts and they are still at it. mobileandgames@thegame.com

Definitely a Game,,

I have reported many times, with no luck, One of the accounts taken over was a good

friend and supplier. Gold or many years a Honest supplier. Now my friend and

suppliers reputation is almost ruined. They have tried to correct yet scammers are

still taking over their account.

Major security issue for Alibaba. Why would a free member for over a year want to pay

the extra for gold member status if most all I receive are scammers.

Thanks for the info link, I am a member yet never post or would have thought about

it.

I will talk to you there sometime.,,,,, thanks again

Respecttully,

Yes. Gold member status should be something that only a true certified buisness with great feedback on sales should have gold member. People are being scammed by gold sellers as a result of alibaba claiming this makes the seller 100% trustable only to come & find out a month or two later that you were scammed by a so called "Gold member".

Re: Alibaba Gold Member Scams

Alibaba should be held accountable for any service they provide and any transactions with-in that service.

Alibaba is acting as an agent or "middle man" and if Alibaba was to simply verify a phone number, address or even a sellers name this would reduce 95% of the scams and fraud that this site is rampant of.

if a seller cannot provide a legitimate form of proof, they should not be allowed to sell here. Alibaba needs to put some form of control in place to deter these types.

If they are regarded as a paying Member Alibaba should be held accountable
