Machine-made carpets are becoming increasingly popular in China.

Hand-made carpets have been leading the carpet market in China for a long time. However, since their price is very high, few families in China can afford to use them.

With advances in production technology, the popularity of machine-made carpets is increasing.

The export value of Chinese machine-made carpets was $199 million last year, an increase of 22.5 percent over 2005.

In the first eight months of this year, the export value of machine-made carpets has reached $134 million.

Even thought the carpet industry of China still largely lags behind that of the United States and Belgium and other carpet producing countries, the future of the sector is very bright, with China expected to become a global carpet manufacturing center in the future.
