Doing Business with Ireland

I am curious as to how many Traders consider Ireland as a Gateway to Europe? I have just returned to my home Town, after 25 years, which is now classed as a Gateway city of the west. So where does the West finish?
There are more multilingual agencies and call centers here now that it is hard to find a street that does not provide international services. Even in our Business Complex there is a multilingual paper being edited and distributed.
As a former, business networker in the UK, I would consider doing the same in my new home base.
