Hi-end, energy-saving, and top brand products being promoted by the Guangzhou delegation have captured the attention of domestic and international buyers at the ongoing 102nd Canton Fair, which opened on Monday.

The Guangzhou delegation signed contracts worth up to $80 million on the fair's first day itself, up 5 percent compared with the same period in its last session.

Deals were mainly reached with buyers from Europe, the United States and Asia, sources with the Guangzhou delegation said.

Top companies, such as Guangzhou Textiles Holdings Limited and Guangzhou Textile Industry Union Import and Export Corporation, have found international buyers at the fair.

The two companies have, for the first time, joined hands to set up six booths displaying baby clothes, Jeans, casual wear, knitted dresses, swimsuits and evening wear.

Top garment brands such as GOGO, PET and BLUE TOP  have drawn much interest from both Chinese and overseas buyers at the fair. On the first day, the two companies clinched a combined deal of up to $3 million.

Also, hi-tech products and environmentally-themed products being showcased at the fair, such as thermostatic refrigerators by the Guangzhou Zhiyin Industries Ltd, have been widely welcomed by buyers from home and abroad.

The thermostatic refrigerator uses pyroelectric technology and has no refrigerant, producing lower engine noise. It is being exhibited for the first time at the fair.

Further, lithium-ion batteries produced by the Guangzhou-based Great Power Battery Co Ltd, a leading global supplier of portable power, are also being highlighted at the fair.

The low-weight battery, which uses environmentally friendly materials and has a very long service life, is widely exported to the European markets.
