I ordered 5 samples at $4.40 USD, there was some modification on the units so I was asked to pay $85.00 for them.The charge to TT from US is $45.00 so I did Western Union.. no problem.
I waited for over 2 months for the samples, was told only 9 days, again no problem. Now they have made only 2 samples and want to charge for shipping as well, I told them to send the EMS and they won't....I told them to bubble wrap and mail them...They won't. FedEx charges over $65.00 Why would I invest more money in this product at this time if they won't work with me at all...This should turn into very large and repetitive orders.
Please give me your thoughts, if I'm right or wrong..

Sharon you are in the right and it is very likely that you are dealing with scammers here who have no intention of providing you goods but are just trying to milk as much money from you as they can before they disappear.

[I ordered 5 samples at $4.40 USD, there was some modification on the units so I was asked to pay $85.00 for them.]

Out of curiosity what was the product? Perhaps you should also name the company and write about your experience over on the Report Suspicious Companies forum.

I am a proponent of suppliers charging for samples, but unfortunately the downside of this brings the requirement of due dilligence forward. If you can get free samples then perhaps you can do your factory verification once you have confirmed interest in the samples. But if you are paying for samples you should do your factory verification up front as either you may lose money on the samples, or you may pay for samples that can never proceed to an order once you do the verification of the factory and find problems.

[Please give me your thoughts, if I'm right or wrong..]

The only possibility of you being in the wrong is that you may not have confirmed all of the details upfront BEFORE you ordered and paid for the samples. Before paying for samples you should know:

1. the cost of the samples - sometimes factories charge more for samples than the actual price of the product;
2. the production time of samples;
3. the delivery method for the samples and who will cover the costs of delivery;
4. the payment method for the samples

Note: In your case with such low priced items the industry standard should have been for the supplier to provide those samples for free and for you to pay for freight.

Replying to [ceta]:I think you just met a large factory supplier or large trading company, they got too many order to make the production, so they will not put lot attention for new or small client. or they just have no times .

Replying to [ceta]: Ceta, it would seem that you really have come accross a company that is either a fraud or very non customer oriented. It seems also that you are a very easy going buyer. Co-operation is great but not to the point where you're paying four times your negotiated rate for samples.

Costs are a killer. You stated that your cost alone for a wire transfer was $45.00. I have no way of knowing your level of business but it would seem to me that you are paying for services from a personal account and not a commercial account. That 45.00 fee is standard for a personal account from most banks. You may want to check out a more commerce oriented bank in your area. I pay less than $10.00 for an on-line International Wire Transfer incoming/outgoing.

Something else you may want to consider in the future. The person you are dealing with through email may understand english. However at times if there is a communication problem it may serve you well to have specifics translated so that there are no communication gaps as the representative is only one small part of the total process. Replying to [Ranger]:I would like to know where you bank...We are at Bank of America and their fees are $45.00 USDND This is not a new account. I travel over to HK and Korea at least 3 times a year meeting suppliers. My buy from this group would not be small, if the quailty is there....
