1. Is there a directory of freight consolidators for China?

2. Anyone aware of any scams associated with freight consolidation or freight consolidation companies I should not do business with?

the only heard scams seem happened when a freight consolidation ompany sign B/L for seller but without any good on board. and the seller get payment from buyer with this fraud B/L.
but generally say freight company will not do that, as they are commonly very big, it donot value them to do it.

If you really want to avoid those scams forwarding agencies, then it will be good that you choose a MNC forwarding agency. But the charges will be higher compare to the smaller forwarding agency.

Dear Caratworks.

I have done consolidations for some of my clients, from China to Italy, and I used very known forwarder agent companies (like Danzas or ABX) and everything turned out to be fine.

If you need more info we can talk by email maybe?
