GAME OF JUGGLING LETTERS??

Can you turn each pair of the radically different words below into synonyms by taking a single letter from one of the two words and placing it somewhere within the other one, without rearranging any of the other letters?

For example, In No. 1, by taking the L from SALVE and inserting it into SAVAGE, you get the synonyms, ‘SAVE and SALVAGE’.

In No. 2, by taking the E from GRIPE and inserting it into SIZE, you get ‘SEIZE and GRIP’.
Thus convert 12 of the remaining duets into synonyms
