Guangzhou government has netted a tax gain of 90.95 billion yuan from January to August, an increase of 26.35 percent year-on-year.


The jump in taxation came after stellar growth was recorded in major sectors such as power, telecom, property, tobacco, and petroleum and chemicals. Auto sector contributed nearly 10 billion yuan tax, up 1.12 times from a year ago, showing the sector's pillar role in Guangzhou's economy.


Government effort to combat tax evasion also helped increase the tax.
